World: Experts overview of malt prices all around the world
The large international brewers Inbev, Heineken and SAB covered much of their 2006 demand during this past month. Less good barley crop prospects may have influenced the buying decisions. The brewers were able to purchase their demand at the low price levels established last month, according to experts reports.
Prices in Germany and Holland were around EUR 220,-/225,- delivered breweries, average price for the full year. Prices in Italy were in the 240's. Poland and Russia booked almost exclusively local produce. In overseas business Central America, Brazil, Japan also succeeded at prices, which had been done before, around EUR 220,- FOB in bulk or around 250,- FOB in bulk in container. Brewers realized that these levels are extraordinarily good, because they tried to add options for later acceptance or to conclude contracts for more than a year.
